End of term Inquiry work

At the end of our unit for this inquiry the students created a brainstorm to show all their wonderings about 'now
and then'. They then looked for similarities between what they were curious about and what other people in the class wanted to know more about. Some people decided to research a topic alone and other's wanted to work with a buddy who shared the same interest. They then researched a topic using paper and online resources. The students chose how they wanted to share their findings. Most of the work completed by the class is below. You can click on the link for slide shows. Not all of the posters photographed well but they can be seen in the classroom. Some work is still being finished.

Playing some games from the past outside!

Practising some games from the past!

Last week Room 12 and room 13 went to Pataka.

We got to meet and work with the artist George Nuku and hear his explanation of the exhibition, 'Bottled Ocean'. We also got to make some plastic jelly-fish from P.E.T. plastic bottles. These are being used in the exhibition.

We also got to learn about how things happened long ago. For example, how clothes were washed, what school was like, fashion etc. The highlight of the day was being able to dress up in old-fashioned clothes. I think the class look very smart.
